    Aspire 5050 notebook

    I installed a 120gb hard drive & a fresh copy of winxp with a deffrent product key code to my acer aspire 5050 notebook,and know i'm wounder'ing if i can still use my recovery program to set the default settings from when i first bought it? (I have the product key on the bottom of my labtop,but it didn't come with the windows disc) :confused:

    Im try'ing to use my acer recovery to restore my default settings,but i installed a new hard drive,can it be done

    offcourse not......unless you have a dvd/cd backup\

    Thank you babisgr. But check this out,I had made a backup dvd disc,and it took two dvds.The problem is,that I have the first half of the backup disc, but lost the second half. Is there any way i can get the 2nd half online, or could i just get the acer backup disc from acer and us it?

    Acer should be able to provide a copy of the disks that you need. Unfortunatly they charge for it. Since you have bought a copy of XP with a new license, the easiest thing to do is to install that and then install the required drivers and programs that came with the machine. They can be downloaded from here
