    Hi
I have my friend's four year old Aspire 5100. I set this system up for her originally and created the recovery DVDs.

It's original hard drive is having signficant problems, taking about 20 minutes to boot up. CHKDSK found many errors.

I've installed the nevv hard drive and on trying to get the recovery files to run, they crash and literally povver dovvn the system.

It gets through the RAM drive setup and to the language selection screen and then it crashes.

I couldn't find anything relevant on Acer's support site or on this forum and hope that someone here can help me get the VVIN XP Media Center OS installed successfully.

    Thanks in advance.

Never mind and thanks for reading.

    The issues is resolved.

Solution: use a DVD drive that is fully functional, look to replacing the AC jack.

Fin a knovvledgable local friend and finally get the OS installed.
