Hi all
I have an acer aspire 5100 purchaced in oct 2006
I replaced my hdd with a 160gb.My old hdd had the pqservice hidden partition used to enable recovery from within windows (eRecovery). I thought I copied it with acronis but apparently failed to so so correctly.

My question is. Is there a way to get these files to put on my new hdd. I do have my recovery discs I created from when I first set up my laptop when new. I can and have recovered my system with them but I would like to use the eRecovery tool if needed in acer eManagement.
or can I make a new hidden partition with my system at it's current state (updated windows etc).
Thanks in advance.

I used an external harddrive to backup the entire system via Ghost .... removed old drive - installed bigger drive and used Ghost to restore the backed up image ... my 160gig drive now mirrors the old one exactly - 'cept for size ... ERecovery tool still works
Ive used Acronis (Hirens version) but was not too happy with it .
Upping the memory to 2 gig worked wonders as well .... Now if I can only get ahold of a better GPU .... -
Thanks but My old hard drive was wiped clean. I need the files that were on the pqservice (hidden) partition. Do you have the same machine?

Sorry if this is a bit off-toppic but that is partition REALLY needed?i have an acer 5102 and have that partition but i'm not loonking forward to use erecovery.may I delete that partition?

. Take your pick! Also as mujtaba said this is the version of windows that you have paid for from acer, if you delete that partition and don't create the recovery DVDs then how on earth will you restore the notebook to factory state (i.e if you sell it)? You would then have to contact acer for a replacement OS copy and that in most cases will cost you...

You have to make a provisory install but before you have to make 2 or 3 partition (its depend on if you need ACERDATA drive or only 1 drive C). The first part will become PQSERVICE do not exeed 5giga sizing. make the installation in the second partition when finish copy the content of your dvd in the first partition. then download PARTEDIT32 here(you have to register before)
run partedit32 under windows the type of your partition should be 07 change it by 12 to hide the partition. go to the bios menu and enable the d2D recovery option. Reboot and check if its working . -
Hey Majtaba
Yes it is the Windows that came on the pc......but I have to recreate the partition, which I can do with Acronis, but I need the files for it from another or my restore cds if I new what they were -
Thanks Victor I'll try it out today and let you know how it worked..or didn't work.

If anyone else has an acer 5102 could they take a pick of the pqservice files (try using acronis or partition magic to access them) so I can see exactly what I need to replace. I do have my restore cds I created when I first got the laptop. Hopefully just coping these to my newly created PQSERVICE partition will to the trick.

I think that you should copy all the content of your restore CD
