My nephew has messed up his Aspire 5100. I need some help as the BIOS will not allow the boot order to be changed. It's currently set to the hard disk & need to boot to CD. F12 same problem. It has something to do with the supervisor password being set as it apparently is not even allowing "load default".

It boots normally but after the welcome screen there are no desktop icons. I am trying to resolve this over the phone. Safe Mode no icons. Won't load to command prompt. Main issue is BIOS not allowing changing the boot order. Does anyone know how to clear the password before it boots? It's the BIOS password.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried installing a BIOS password removal program? From what I've read about acer laptop's, it is kinda hard to remove the BIOS password. Maybe someone else will chime in and help you out. This was just a thought.

Also try: at boot up, tap either F1, F2, or CTRL+ALT+ESC to get to the set up screen and try to disable the BIOS password.
