    Aspire 5100 inside cleaning

    Took it appart today for cleaning, as the CPU temps were a bit too high lately. I was surprised to see a lot of dust and hair gathered in the heat sink because there are no pets in my girlfriend's house or mine. Except for the HSF unit, everything else was as clean as new.

    While I was there I also removed the heat sink and changed the CPU thermal paste and replaced the chipset's thermal pad with some MX-2 thermal paste. The CPU one was a little too hard, maybe because of the thermal cycles across time.

    Before cleaning she got 50-52 degrees Celsius on the CPU.
    After cleaning she's getting 37-40 degrees on the CPU.

    Check your laptop for clogging more often.
