Aspire 5100 power settings keep resetting

I've had this with acer ePower management, a couple of weeks ago. I deleted that software and afterwards I could get into windows power settings through Control Panel.
Anyway, I saw some options as to when the laptop goes into stand-by. I changed everything to 'Never' and set the power buttons to do nothing, so if I close the lid it should NOT go in stand-by. But after a while it resets itself. 'Never' becomes '15 minutes' and it goes straight into standby when I close the lid. Very annoying.

Now I have a new HD, since the old one was damaged beyond repair. Still, I have the reset problem again. I haven't installed the Acer utilities since basically I find it memory eating and crappy.

What could it be if I still have the problem with my new HD? Drivers? As far as I know I downloaded everything from the FTP.

 

I have the same exact problem on mine. It happened ever since I got the 7.9 ati catalysts, so I went with the omega drivers and it's been fine.

 

I have Omega drivers right now.

 

Anyone...?
