You can upgrade a few things on the 5100 series.

    1) The processor can be upgraded to a faster turion x2(TL-56 - TL-66) as all current turion X2s use socket S1.

    2) The memory(ram) is always upgradeable like in any other notebook. The 5100 series notebooks can handle up to 4Gb of ram.

    3) You can put in a bluetooth module if your 5100 doesn't already come with one other than that upgrading from the standard module isn't necessary.

    4) You can upgrade your hard drive to a faster/larger one if you want as well.

    5) The graphics card (integrated) is NOT upgradeable so you are stuck with the xpress 1100 if that is what your 5100 came with. Even if yours doesn't have the xpress 1100 you still cannot upgrade it.

Notebook speakers are made for the notebook's chassis so you won't find any other speakers than the stock ones, so If you want good sound I would just get a good pair of headphones or a good external speakers.
Other than the things I listed there isn't anything else to upgrade on a notebook as notebooks have limited upgrade potential (unlike desktops).

    Yes, upgrades are possible.

It can take up to 4GB RAM (fairly easy upgrade)
The processor is apparently upgradeable to a 2.4 GHz Turion TL-66 (harder than RAM, but still reasonably easy to do--I've removed the CPU from my system before--don't ask why :) )

Bluetooth is another matter entirely. Not too expensive (run a search on eBay and you'll find the upgrade), but RIDICULOUSLY hard to install. The entire laptop has to be dismantled, because the BT chip lives right in the nose of the lower case, right behind the mic/headphone jacks. And it has to plug in to pins on the BOTTOM of the board.

Recommended only for experienced technicians. If you aren't one--or don't know one--forget about it.

PS: It irks me no end that Acer sells a machine with a BT switch on the front, without actually supplying BT. Dumb...
