My Aspire 5100 stopped working. The battery dropped to 0% and it was really slow. When I rebooted, and it just started and stopped after a second. I tried to boot it without the battery, with just de AC cord connected, and it does nothing at all. I thought that it was a battery problem, but, I think that it should boot with only the AC cord? Maybe the AC itself is the problem, that's why I want to know this. Does anybody can answer me?
Thanks!

Sounds like the computer is not getting the power from AC so the battery cannot be recharged too. You might test the voltage of the AC adapter with a multimeter. If the voltage is good, then something is wrong with the computer itself.

That's was the problem, there was no voltage at all. I cut the cord and soldered everything, and it works now, thanks!
Aspire 5100 won't boot, should it work without battery?
