What kind of cable do I need, optical or coaxial? I've got both a mini-optical to full-size Optical cable, and a 3.5 mm mono to single RCA phono adapter, and a Sony 5.1 receiver with an optical and coaxial input, but I have no clue what I need, and nothing I do (using my optical cable gets no signal, using the RCA phono adapter to a coaxial cable is the same) works. I've enabled the digital output, but nothing I do works. Could anyone help? I've searched the forums, and while the consensus for other models seems to be Optical, I'm still confused as there's nothing specific for my model. Any help is appreciated.![]()

Yeah, I've tried plugging my mini-optical cable in, but I get no signal on my receiver (or any red light coming through the cable). I'm thinking that the optical output on the laptop is messed up, I know that the cable transmits a signal just fine, but I'm not getting one at all through the headphone port. Is there anything else that I need to do besides just enabling the Realtek Digital Output?
EDIT: OK, I don't think that this thing does optical output at all. I just hooked up my pair of headphones with the "Realtek Digital Output" on "Realtek High Definition Audio" enabled, and I'm getting a signal through my headphones...with it fully plugged in, it only goes out the left can, but when I slightly unplug it, it goes out both. Reminds me of what happened when I tried playing Metroid Prime 3 using my headphones on my receiver, and I just had to change some sound settings there...
