Hi guys, I've a little problem but, first of all, a very small intro:

    I've an Acer Aspire 5101 with a turion64 processor...

I've upgraded the RAM memory to 4GB and I'm going to upgrade also the OS (Win XP) to Win XP 64bit (BTW not with Win XP professional x64, simply the 64 bit version of XP) to use the RAM fully...

Well, searching infos about my RAM, I've seen, with a small software (CPU-Z), that my socket is the S1 (638 pins) model, and searching in the web I've found that this one is used also for processors like the Turion64 X2 (that, if I'm not wrong, is the AMD dual core, isn't it?!?)...

Now my question is: Can I change my CPU upgrading it with a dual core one?!?

If yes: What kind of dual core CPU can I put on?!? The Turion64 X2 only, or also something better?!?What is better?!?

PS: Another little question: if I upgrade also my hard disk to something like a 7.2k rpm one (from mine, that's a 5k rpm), it's better or indifferent?!? There will be an increase in speed or it's only a way to waste my cash :D ?!?

Sorry for my English, and thanks everybody

PPS: If U need other infos about my HW, just ask me...

Well, I think you can upgrade to all S1 compatible CPU which mean you can upgrade to a TL-68 (2,4Ghz) for example as long as the BIOS support it which I think it does.
Check this processor list especially the TL ones.

About the hard disk - it depends. For example a 7,2K 200GB is a slightly faster than a 5,4K 320GB but 7,2 200GB is much faster than 5,4K 120GB. I suggest you check the Hardware forum for HDD benchmarks and comparisons.
What HDD do you have? Brand, speed and GB please.

    Thank you...

My HDD is a Toshiba, model "MK6034GAX", 60 GB, 5.4k rpm...

That's why I want to upgrade also the HDD...
    60 GB ends in a second :D

Anyway I don't want/need an HDD too much big, IMO less than 200GB it's enough, also 'cause it's a notebook, and I've also external HDD's, that I use with my desktop PC and other laptops...
I'm thinking to change the HDD mainly to speed up my pc

Now I'll search for a CPU in that list, tnx

If you don't want a big hdd then I'd suggest you get a 7200rpm drive you'll definitely notice a speed improvement. Keep in mind this might reduce your battery life..
About the CPU I'd suggest TL-66, it seem it's much cheaper than TL-68 and the difference between both CPUs is insignificant
