I have an Aspire 5102WLMI. It has a 120GB 4200RPM Hitachi Dive. I want to upgrade and it seems that SATA is the way to go (Faster and better pricing) I know there are Aspire 5100 machines with SATA drives.
    -Is it possible to convert?
-Is the controller soldered or Push In?
-Is this a matter of getting a new controller card?
-Would I need a new Bios flash?
As for divers, I bought the original Acer XP reinstallation CD/DVD set.

    Any advice is appreciated.

It's not possible.. just go to newegg or some place and buy a PATA drive. They're not any slower than SATA but the largest size is only 320 GB because manufacturers are making less of them.

Are you quite sure your computer has a PATA drive?
