    Aspire 5102WLMI Ram

    I thought that this laptop was supposed to have 1gb of ram, when i check i only see 896mb of ram. Is this normal?

    That's because a certain amount is being used by the onboard graphics chip, in this case, 128MB. (1024-128=896)

    You can look in the BIOS and lower the amount of used RAM. I switched mine in the BIOS to use 128MB and with only 512MB installed, I was using the page file like freakin crazy, so i switched the BIOS to only use 32MB. That works alot better when you only have 512MB installed.

    The X1100 graphics card is an abomination though. It performs worse then the default X200 drivers that XP uses.
