I was just watching an movie when the screen froze, went black, the sound stuttered for a few seconds and then the comp restarted with a 1 long-2 short beep code. I left it for a while and tried again and got the same but this time it booted to windows only again, with no video. Is my card knackered?

    I think it is.... :(

The IBM list is the only one with a matching code. Is this the same for Acer? I'm guessing it is though I just want to be sure when I call them in the morning so they don't wreck my head with pointless tests...

Yeah I worked in tech support once upon a time :)

time for a new mainboard; that beep code relates to "ROM failure". I read that in an old service guide, not a very helpful description but generally points to the graphics chip failing.
