    Hello there 5112Wlmi owners. ;)
Has anybody tried to install Windows7 on this machine?
    I have the following model:
    AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL-50 (1.6 Ghz,512KB L2)
    15.4" WXGA wide CristalBrite
    ATI X1300 128mb dedicated
    2 GB DDR2 - 667Mhz
    80 GB 5400rpm SATA HDD

There are no Windows7 drivers on Acer driver download page,
but I've been told that I could run this system, just to install it and that it
will download and install needed drivers itself!

    Has anybody done this?

I haven't personally tried it, but I'd say that the people telling you that it would download and install the needed drivers are probably right. Windows 7 has very good legacy support and anything it doesn't find you can usually fix yourself using the XP/Vista versions of the drivers from Acer. You might have to run the driver installation in compatibility mode with admin rights, but I've seen very few things that simply will not work. Mostly built-in cameras for some reason. Anyway, I'd say just try it, unless you're really determined to find someone who's already tested the waters on this specific model.

Hello Joe, yes I will definitelly try it, as soon as I download it and find enought time to do it! ;)
I just wanted to see if anybody has already done it, and has some advices for me...

And yes, I also read that VISTA driver can be used for Win7, so I guess it can be done.
