Hey, I have formatted my Acer Aspire 5310, to a clean format of Windows Vista Home Premium.

I want to download the empowering technology software. I have looked on the acer support site, but cannot find it for my laptop model.

    Regards,
    Clarky

Did the laptop originally have Windows XP or Windows Vista installed?

If it came with Windows XP then you probably won't be able to use Empowering Technology unless you use a compatible version but designed for a different model, but that can cause compatibility issues and crashes.

If it came with Windows Vista then the programs would most likely be found on the System CD in the Recovery CD set.

I found the software here, however I still cant find the addon I had before for my audio, in which I could select, music/movie/gaming.

It was originally preloaded with windows vista. No system cd or recovery cd was provided with the laptop

clarky you need to burn a system DVD and an apps DVD now.do you still have erecovery ?
if not you need to burn the recovery disks as the apps disk should hold all you need.is the d2d recovery still working (Alt f10)

Since a clean format was involved I am sure the custom Acer MBR was deleted, so ALT-F10 is out. Now depending on how the OP formatted the system, the PQSERVICE partition may or may not still be there.

I looked in the storage management, and their is still a 9gb unallocated part of the partition.

C 67'ish gb, then just over 9gb unallocated space, is this the PQSERVICE partition?

I did made a recovery backup dvd before formatting, if this may help at some point.

If not, my laptop is working fine with the newly formatted vista, ill just have to go without the Empowering technology stuff.

That 9 GB does appear to be the PQSERVICE partition. But you will not be able to boot from it since Acer uses a custom MBR and it gets erased whenever you do a clean install from an OS disk other than what Acer provides you with.

However it is a good thing you created the eRecovery backups. Those backups will have all the programs and drivers installed when you restore. You could restore your system using that, but since your laptop is working fine with your clean install of Home Premium, open the recovery disk and you should be able to find the Empowering Technology files in it.

All that is on the dvd's are dat files. However, disk 1 seems to be in a bootable file structure. Ive attached a pic of disk 1, disk 2 is just all .dat files.

And I cant install eRecovery because of the D2D problem.

I have found this article :
    http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Repair-the-Acer-D2D-Recovery&id=794500

If you find the third cause, 'And the third causes : the Acer Master Boot Record (MBR)was damaged or replaced by non-Acer MBR. As long as partition PQSERVICE is present or that you can put the hand on the necessary Acer files you can reinstall the MBR of Acer.' thats exactly my problem, should I go through the solution steps?
