I have the 5315-2153, could you please help me thank you
What is the thermal heat limit for the morthboard. Do I need to get bios for the T7500 if I install it. If so, can you drop a link for me to get the bios I need. What would be the right bios set for me then.

I have T7300, and is working on Bios v1.45.
go to Acer support site for your country or region and look for BIOS update.
Flash the BIOS before CPU upgrade, just to be sure...

Hey guys. Just registered to say I popped in an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 (bios V1.43). Easy to do, no problems at all with your guide.
    Thanks again!

This thread has been going on for too long for me to not mention this...

I upgraded my 5315 motherboard to a 5720g... just had to cut a few holes in the chassis. :)
I will post pictures and maybe a little dis assembly guidelines later today, but if you want to know the jist of it, its a drop in upgrade if you have an MXM 2.1 II card and a heatsink, all the other parts of the 5315 work just fine for the 5720g motherboard.

The touchpad and keyboard are compatible between 5315's and 5720's?

No. This requires the laptop FSB to match the CPU FSB. Its only 800mhz, not 1066mhz. So you need a pm45 chipset for that CPU.
    Yes they sure are.
Also should be the same on the 5320, 5520 and others.
Anything "ICL50" is the same. Anything "ICK70" is the 17" version, the motherboards are the same though.

    Hey niffcreature,
Looking forward to those pics and guidelines.
Please also give details on the MXM 2.1 II card and a heatsink... the ones from the 5315 will not work?

Hello everybody. I have a problem with my aspire 5315. I read this forum and guides from beginning to end, and i finally decided to upgrade my celeron 550 for a Pentium Dual Cor t4400. I was excited about the performance i will gain, but i only found problems.
I have to say that i had win xp installed, and after changing the cpu , the pc sarted the first time pretty smoothly. Then windows recognised the cpu and installed Multiprocesor ACPI, so after the rebooting, win refused to sart. I thought i was the BIOS, so i flashed v1.45 then but doesn´t work either. I try to reinstall win xp, but it hangs up in the middle of the installation. I ran out of ideas. Can anybody give me a tip? I had to painfully downgrade back my pc to the celeron and try conbinations of reinstallations with one cpu, and then change to the other, but nothing seems to work. I haven´t read on this forum someone using this cpu (t4400), and possibly it doesn´t work with the MB. I not pretty much sure of anything right know, and i don´t want to look after other processor until i confirm there´s nothing wrong with my pc.

@maxq: The 5720G has an additional (separate) heatsink for the GPU. When replacing an integrated motherboard with an MXM one, you need to obtain and install this heatsink separately. The part number for the GPU heatsink is AT01K000500.

The existing 5315 or 5720 CPU heatsink will also be needed.

However, if you still have the original 5315 motherboard, then it won't be able to take an MXM card.

The X3100 is not a separate GPU, but part of the northbridge, and cannot be upgraded, unfortunately.

Impossible - each northbridge has a different pinout & requires different support components, changing the northbridge would require redesigning the motherboard.

bigozone is back... still rocking the 5315, and planning on buying 2 used ones from a friend.

as for the T4400 CPU, you said it is a DUAL CORE, and not a CORE2DUO. is that correct? i'll look it up and see what is up.however most everyone i know are using core2duo CPUs,so i'm not sure it's compatible,, but since it booted up and then installed the APCI i have a feeling it should work with a proper install. follow SOULPASS instructions for installation and install the sound driver before installing SP3 or else the sound won't work. i have a question about when you tried to reinstall XP were you using a legit windows disk? if so that was your problem... you must use Nlite to embed the SATA driver so windows can talk to the HDD. or you could go into to the BIOS and change the HDD MODE to IDE instead of sata (however that would loose a bit of performance)

google SOULPASS ACER 5315 XP and it has directions for making a custom version of the windows installation disk with SATA and other drivers. infact there is a thread here @ NBR on using Nlite. but the soulpass page has a bullet proof walk through. you will need an original XP disk, and a blank CD or DVD to burn your custom install disk on to. i personally use an XP PRO w/ SP2 UPGRADE DISK to create my nlite installation disk... but any version that doesn't have SP3 will work.

    hope that helps

    bigO :hi2:

T4400 is a "Pentium Dual-Core", i.e. a dumbed-down Core 2 Duo. Not to be confused with the "Core Duo", which is a rebranded Pentium M Yonah CPU.
