Over a year ago, I bought a samsung TV (LE19R86BD) to use mainly for a dual monitor setup with my laptop. The supposed max resolution is 1440x900, however the only suitable options listed are 1280*768 (16:9/10) (what I currently use) and 1600*900 (the number of pixels are correct vertically, but it is squashed horizontally). Many other resolutions, none compatible, are listed up to 2048*1536. I have a second lower quality vga cable, which when I bought the Monitor, I managed to use it at 1440*900, but it causes ghosting. However, it no longer gives the option for 1440*900, and gives the same options as the high quality one. (I haven't used it in almost a year)

I was wondering if there would be a way to force the resolution change, or maybe video driver update would help? (intel x3100/GMA965)

I believe that you are limited to the output of the x3100. Question? Are you using the S-Video out or the VGA out?

Vga, but I don't understand why i can put it at 1600x900, and not 1440 x 900 bacuse thats a lower resolution.

yeah, i dont know. it must have something to do with the x3100 output not playing nice with samsungs input. I havent used vga out on my laptop so I cannot attest to that. What i do know is that using the s-video out i can only output 1024x768 to my 32 inch vizio which has a theoretical 1360x760 limit. It works with my xbox using the vga component cable however.
