I have an 80 gig hard drive partitioned into two equal parts. Using vista. How do you use the second hard drive. Will it automatically be used when the first is full. Any info concerning this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, i am assuming like me you have a C drive and a D drive, all it is, most people use the C which has vista on it to save all programs, games etc n use the D as storage for say music, videos etc. No it wont automatically use the other drive once the C is full. If you have any other Q's im here to help :)

if using XP PRO to do the install you can delete the C: & D: partitions and then create one huge primary partition, if you would rather have it that way..

but i'd leave that PQSERVICE partition alone... you may need it someday

Hi, is there anyway to resize the partitions so the d (storage)drive could be reduced and the c(primary) drive made larger. Thanks again.

there are various partition managment programs that can do just what you ask

the one i've always used is PARTITION MAGIC

just do a google search for partition managment software

and just to be safe.. make a backup before modifing a partiton

Vista has partitioning tools built in. It can expand partitions and
decrease them. Control panel\Administrative Tools\Computer Management.

Be carefull and backup all to an external disk before messing with your
    drives !

I have recently bought an acer5315, and very quickly my C drive is nearly full.
For some reason the D drive is n ot in use, and someone has mentioned that it is the partition.
I am a complete computer dodo! Can anyone tell me how to sort this out step by step with an idiots guide because I dare not do anything incase it screws up.
Do i need to alter the partition settings, and if so how do I do it?

I have made recovery and backup disc's if that helps.

Please help this poor useless and needy woman, lol.

I want to get rid of the vista and install XP pro. I have the installation disc. Do I need to install extra drivers to do this? I have backed up all the files.
How do I go about it? Thanks for any help.
