    Hi all,

I purchased a acer aspire 5516 at Microcenter for 299! and since it had all the crapware on it I decided to install vista x64 business. I decided to blow away the hidden partition since I didnt or would never need it and could use the extra space. I proceeded with the vista install (clean) and selected my drive and recreated partition and even formatted it. The system rebooted once and then it went to "completing installation" and just hung there. Sounded almost like it accesses the cd rom before the activity light gets stuck. I can still move the mouse but nothing else can be done but a hard boot. I did some research and there are not sata drivers on the acer site and seen many threads bout this issue but in XP which is probably not releivent. I am able to install it by changing the bois setting to ide native but it will not install using ide ahci. From my understanding switching to native mode will decrease performance...so I would like to isntall in ahci mode. I am doing a diskwipe now and erasing mbr. Anyone have any ideas! Called acer but of course got some Indian guy reading scripts telling me they cant support anything but vista basic since it came preloaded....whateva!!!
