Hi guys.
My Acer Aspire 5542g laptop has Realtek Digital Output as well as default Speakers.
i always listen to my music on my laptop through headphones and i want to use the Digital Audio feature for better sound, i have read other threads on this feature in the forum but they have always mentioned the TOSLink connected to some sort of amp or external speakers. my question is can i use the TOSLink adapter to get digital sound through my headphones?

I have not seen one . . the adapter would need to decode the bitstream/PCM into two analogue channels and amplify it for headphone output. A reasonably big module with a battery would be needed . . and it would then duplicate what your soundcard is already doing ?
Worth it for feeding an AV amp /system . . probably not for headphones -
thanks BruBoo.
so basically the Digital Audio on my laptop is useless through headphones?
what would you reccommend for better sound quality through my headphones? -
anybody shed some light?
