I have an Aspire 5570Z with Vista Home Premium/integrated memory card reader. When I first turned on the laptop and plugged my Sandisk Cruzer Micro in, it recognized the drive, but would not recognize the U3 software. I updated the U3 firmware from my XP machine, so it should work in Vista now.

When I insert the Cruzer Micro into the laptop again, nothing happens. I don't even see the removable drive show up in "My Computer". I've been trying to figure it out for a while, and I remember reading something about how Vista handles drive letters might be causing the problem. I think I read that the memory card reader was reserving a few drive letters, but they wouldn't show up until a memory card is inserted. So when I put in a my thumbdrive, it tries to use a reserved drive letter and stalls. I don't remember where I read this or if it is true, but does anyone else have the same problem as me? I just want to be able to use my thumbdrives...
