Hello i have an issue with my Acer Aspire 5610z. The sound is not loud at all. When recording with the built in mic its very low recording. I have adjusted it and stillm not loud. The system came with Vista Home Premium. I HATE VISTA!!! I installed XP Professional SP2. Still same problem with sound. But XP runs alot better. I made a ghost backup of XP to a DVD and used the recovery CD'S for Vista to reinstall Vista and now im installing Vista SP1 to see if its different. Acer is a horrible company to deal with. They put a falty recovery partition on there computers and when it ask to make recovery DVD'S they never work. I had to call Acer to get them and luckly i was able to get them free :). But anyway None of the OEM'S should make recovery on a partition thats real dumb to do that but anyway i will see how sp1 doese for Vista.

I had the same problem, I travel a lot and have that laptop too. I use an external headset because none of my family or friends could ever hear me when I used it. Its probably just ****ty hardware. The speakers arent loud either. When im at work (i work on a rigsite and it can get loud) I watch movies with the speakers on max and can barely hear whats going on from 2 feet away. I sometimes lean on my desk with my ears right next to the speakers so I can hear it, lol. I cant wear headphones because I need to be aware unfortunatly lol... (i am also semi hard of hearing i think)

anyway like I said its just a crappy laptop, I also am running xp pro sp2 btw

Well i really should have gotten a Dell Inspiron 9100 like my friend did. His speakers are almost as loud as a desktop. Acer said the microphone was low because it was a laptop. Thats the stupidest excuse i ever heard.
