This weekend, the laptop just shutdown without any warning! I switched it back on, and then after 30 mins, the same issue!!! I checked the battery, and was charging OK.

Now after the last unexpected powerdown, it has been non responsive ever since and cannot turn it back on.. I dont think its the battery, cos it was charging before it died....

    Suggestions pls??

    Sounds like it was overheating.

If that is the problem, the computer should hopefully be able to turn on within the hour.

For at least half an hour, remove the battery and unplug the laptop; press the power button at least once with everything unplugged... If and when you can get it on, go to cpuid.com and download HWMonitor, and that program will tell you your computer's internal temperatures, CPU should be less than or around 60C and GPU around the same; hard drive less than 60C.

If the temperatures are a lot less than the temperatures that I've specified even after using the computer for a few minutes, then high temperatures are not you problem.

If the computer does not turn on.. then post back, and hopefully someone can suggest something else..

I tried what you suggested namaiki and it worked! :notworthy: I think the laptop overheated and shut down for that reason

I vacumed out loads of dust and it is back on. HWMonitor is very handy as well.
