I recently bought an Acer Aspire 5630 and I can clearly hear an audible buzzing sound coming from the keyboard, near the top. If i press the little black button that shuts off the monitor (I think it's used for turning the monitor off when the lid is closed), the noise is gone. Is this noise suppose to be there or is my labtop defective?

It could be the back light inverter(?) Not too sure, though. But it is not normal. If it is still under warranty, send it back to be fixed.

Okay, thanks, I'll try to get Acer to fix it.

I concur if the noise goes away when the LCD is shut off, then it is the backlight inverter. I've had several notebooks that have had this issue. Sometimes changing the brightness level will make it go away, you may want to mess with it before sending it in.

Adjusting the brightness doesn't seem to do anything T_T. Ah well, I'll either try to replace it at Circuit City or get Acer to fix it.
