I have had an Acer Aspire 5633 for a few weeks and been working fine. Today it was left running, came back to it and it was off. When trying to turn it back on the power light, hard drive light and fan all come on for 1 - 2 seconds, then everything goes off again. When trying to do turn it on again and again, it still does the same thing. It won't run off mains or battery. Any ideas on why it seems to be f***ed?

Does it get to the POST screen when you turn it on? The POST screen is the first screen you see marked ACER along with the ability to get into the BIOS.

If you cannot even get to this then I suspect that your motherboard is fried or malfunctioning and you will need a replacement.
You said you've only had your aspire 5633 for a few weeks, well call up acer tech support and talk with them and tell them to repair your notebook, it is obviously still under warranty so instead of poking around and trying to find the answers yourself let them fix it they would know better than you. You paid extra for that warranty remember :) ...

I'd second that... your motherboard is done.

I know its no consolation I have had the exact same problem, but my 5633 is 3 months out of warantee. Having tried acer technical support(rubbish) I scrapped the machine and replaced it with a Sony . All I can say is you get what you pay for. Yes the acer was cheap but it hasn't turned out to be a bargain.

Did your machine go into hibernate? If it did then it would seem that this may be a common fault, I have heard of two other cases of this problem locally.

Having done some research at work We suspect that the problem is a corrupt bios.
If we come up with a solution I'll let you know.
