Ok so i've been looking for a laptop with a x1600 for a decent price on somehow i read up on the Aspire 5670 series (i think the 5672) that has the x1600. Now after searching i found some with the x1400, which is not for me, and some with the x1600 but with only 128mb. Is there any within this series with a x1600 with 256mb? I've heard the x1600 128mb falls short. and i WANT a x1600 with 256mb in my price range. I was intensely looking at the Acer TravelMate TM8204WLMi but i determined im not goin to spend that much right now. Thanks

Well, what's your price range? I don't think Acer specifically is going to release any with 256MB. You may have to wait it out.

well i believe the new acer 9110 will be coming out with GeForce Go 7600 GPU but not for a while, it looks like a decent piece too. And i believe i just saw someone post up a chart showing that the 5672 coming out in middle june, this month, will have the 256mb x1600. Im really looking for a laptop within the 1000-1200 but going over 1200 is easy to do. I really need atleast the x1600 with 256mb for gaming... and atleast 1 gig of ram would be nice... i've been recomended the asus and msi systems i dont like going into that unfamiliar ground...

the compal hel80 will be available now, most likely.....i doubt acer will release it with the x1600 256mb b/c it would compete with their current acer 8204

well, those are supposed to be the acers that are out now (release date 6/1). just b/c that's what they said that they are planning to release, that doesn't mean it will come out that way in the final configuration. also, they could mean 256 mb hypermemory. finally, that is for the canadian market. configurations and availability for different models change from country to country. for example, the asus a8jm is available in canada, but they pulled the a8jm from the u.s. market to avoid competition with the w3j. but if you really want to make sure, i suggest contacting acer and seeing if they have anything to say about that.

So even if i decide to put up the acer with the x1600 128mb, is it gona be considerably worse than the x1600 256mb? Just looking to play source, callof duty 2, and so on with med-high graphic settings without a problem. Thanks

those games should be fine with the x1600 128 mb. you just won't be able to play the newer games as well as with the 256 mb. i'm sure someone else has mentioned this to you, but if gaming is one of your priorities, i would suggest looking into something like the asus s96j (backordered right now, though).

Not really interested in asus or msi..... And one last thing, the x1600 128mb is still better than the x1400 128mb correct? I know you can get either of these cards in this same model and i want to get the better if i decide too. And if the x1600 128mb is better, Alot better or just a tad bit better gameplay? thanks for all the help

the x1600 is significantly better than the x1400. don't let the model names fool you, the x1400 is basically a lower clocked x700 (if i'm not mistaken) but the x1400 is definately a lower performer than the x700. But the x1600 is right around %40 better than the x700 (found this at tomshardware.com).

The difference in memory size wont be as big of an issue as the gpu; for instance, the x1400 with 256MB will still be much less of a performer than an x1600 even at 128MB
