So my buddy from Berkeley gave me his Vista Business CD Key, cuz his computer couldn't run it. (Berkeley gives them out to all students). Since I didn't have the install file, I got them off a torrent, burned the image on a DVD, ran the upgrade. The compatibility thing said thatI had to deinstall Daemon Tools, so I did that. Then it said that there were other issues that "shouldn't effect the installation" such as my waaaay outdated ATi drivers and all of the Acer software that came with the laptop. So I ignored that, and went for the upgrade anyway. After the installation finished completely, computer restarted and booted Vista for the first time. After being stuck at the loading screen for a little while, I got a BSOD with the following message:
**** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x89CD5F84, 0x82233714, 0x00000000)
Now I've also never updated my BIOS since I got the lapton last August, but when I briefly beta-tested Vista on my computer (also last August) there were no problems with anything.
Any ideas? Should I just go for a clean install? Could it be my outdated BIOS? Or maybe all the "insignificant" warnings the installer gave me?
Thanks for the help mates.

can you boot safe mode or debug mode ?

Nope, I couldn't get to safe mode.
But I just finished installing a clean install (chose not to format so I kept all of my files) no problems so far, except that after I installed the ATI VGA Driver from Acer, the screen kept blinking black after first reboot. Working alright right now I think.
