This can be kinda old, but today I just ran 3DMark05 and PCMark04 on my Aspire 5672 (X1600 with Catalyst 8.5), I used those marks because they're from an old review (see link below), here are the results:

OS: Windows XP SP3 fully updated
Processor: Intel Core Duo T2300E (1.66GHz)

This is the default system (except for OS only), I didn't changed the RAM too, they're still 533MHz (instead 667MHz), nor CPU or HDD, or put into overclock state.

    3DMark05:
    2354 3DMarks
    4452 CPUMarks

    PCMark04:
4688 PCMarks (4765 for CPU only).

    Very different from:
    http://www.notebookreview.com/defau...ire+5672WLMi+-+Core+Duo+T2300+1.66+GHz+-+15.4

    "Acer Aspire 5670 (1.66 GHz Core Duo, ATI X1400 128MB) 1655 3DMarks / NA"

The only difference I can see are graphic board (X1400), drivers and SP3 of course.

It seems worth going for a 2.0GHz Core Duo (and 2~4GB 667MHz RAM + new 300GB 10k RPM Seagate HD of course).

Found out some programs running on background, so I did a new benchmark:

    3DMark05:
    2398 3DMarks
    4577 CPUMarks

I'll see if I run PCMark05 or not.

    PCMark05:
    3198 PCMarks

My HD is almost full, so it can affects the result.

when i go to the ati drivers webpage and select my model to download
(XP Pro/Home --> mobility radeon --> mobility radeon X1600) it takes me to a page where i have to download another program that checks to see if my comp. can handle catalyst 8.5. after the small 600kb download it then informs me that it cannot update my driver. i'm soooo confused as to why not. i have the acer aspire 5672 x1600 1gb ram 120gb HD. any thoughts? i currently have v8.241.3.0

It seems possible to upgrade to a T7600 ($420) at least a guy @ Ubuntu did that. Anyone else did (or can confirm) that?
