Just looking for some advice on fixing a problem with my keyboard. What is happening is once in a while my keyboard doesn't 'notice' my keyboard strokes. I'm really not sure of the source of the problem, but it is fairly consistant in it's problem.

Hmm.. I haven't had the chance to type that much with they keyboard yet. But i havent encountered any of the problems u have got. maybe your not pressing down hard enough?..altho i bet its highly unlikely. maybe somebody else has had this problem before.
one problem i do notice is that, sometimes i miss hitting the keys properly, probably because i'm not used to typing on a laptop. -
I'd say the ribbon cable connecting to the motherboard from the Keyboard should be reinserted. If you know how to access the ribbon cable underneath the keyboard, then it's worth a shot. Remove it and then reinsert it. If it doesn't work, mostlikely the keyboard needs to be replaced.

does anybody know how to take the bottom cover off? the large one that's supposed to have the memory and cpu? i took out all the screws, and did a little bit of wiggling, but still couldnt take it out.
by contrast the hdd cover was pretty easy, the screws, and then used a screwdriver to pop it off. -
Are the same keys constantly affected or is it random?
I would suggest taking a can of compressed air and spray the keyboard. Also another suggestion, if the same keys are affected, would be to pry off that particular key and reseat it. Please note, that if you take the key of improperly, you could possibly damage the keyboard, and void your warranty.
Additionally, if your not familiar taking laptops apart, I would suggest leaving that to the professionals. Doing so will most certainly void the warranty. -
I have this same "missing keystrokes" issue on my Aspire 5570Z. It is very random.
A simple way I've found to reproduce the issue it to quickly type: 11223344556677889900
and you will get something like 11233456677889900 (which is what I actually got just now). go ahead, try it slamming down those keys. it wont make a difference. the only way to get it to type correctly is to type it slow. -
sounds like something is eating up your cpu cycles and as a result causing lag between the keyboard strokes and the actual keys typed.
Also please note that only a maximum of 4 keys can be held down and registered @ once by many laptops and pc's.
Sounds like a software issue to me, not a hardware one. I would take a peek at your services and run a full system check for any problems sofware wise.

I've been having the same issues. I can't reproduce them like you said but it does happen (damn its happening right now lol).
Miss keyboard strokes is pissing me off because I take notes in class with this thing.
This is a fresh format of vista ultimate. Not Home premium that came with it.
I notice it especially when I'm using backspace...and it just pauses for a second and continues. -
Same here, this happens on my Acer 5520. EXTREMELY annoying, enough to just return the thing. Has anyone figured out how to fix tihs?
