    Aspire 5685-wlmi won't run on battery. Help appreciated.

    The notebook won't fully boot-up to windows on battery. It would get to the logon screen, except in this case the screen would be black, leaving me with a distorted (movable) cursor image.

    Restarting on AC power works flawlessly. Battery is 100% fully charged. I think I may have accidently messed up some driver/registry settings while "cleaning up" the bloat earlier. Could this be a hardware issue?

    try unplugging the computer, taking the battery out and hold the power for a few seconds...
