    Hi guys!
Since my 8400m gs, which came with my laptop from the factory, got broken, i searched the web for a possible sostitute, so i ended up with this:
eBay Italia - Aste online e shopping a prezzo fisso

Now today i have placed it inside my laptop without any particular problems, and i got the infamous "30 Seconds startup" ERROR, wich surprised me, because i thought this video card was compatible with the 5720g, and no bios update was needed.
After that, it booted correctly and ubuntu loaded just fine with the open nvidia drivers.
Do you guys have any advices to solve this problem?

    Any help will be appreciated.

Well today i tried to update the laptop bios from the 1.27 to the 1.42 version and it seems to have solved the problem. At least the 30 seconds startup error.
Let's see if i get any driver installation issues...

The card is working fine under win7 with laptopvideo2go nvidia OEM mobile drivers with modified inf file.
In the next days i'll post the results with nvidia proprietary drivers under ubuntu 12.04.

Hi! Can you tell me which driver do you use? because my 5720's screen goes black randomly with lv2go modded drivers except an old one. Can you upload the .inf file somewhere and write the driver version?

csabesz: Please upload your VBIOS (saved with GPU-Z). You are hitting the PCI express link width power saving bug - I will post a modded VBIOS to fix it.

hello :) I reinstalled vbios to a newer version. But everything remained as before. Windows defines only 14 MB of video memory, and 8 bits. Yesterday reinstalled several bios Acer. Replaced the old BIOS, then new, then modified. The result remained the same. A little later, I will lay out all the bios versions (PC) and vbios are replaced.

This my VBIOS now : VGA Bios Collection: Acer 9600M GT 512 MB | techPowerUp

    Безымянный.JPG it work!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

    download - filecloud.io

    This should fix it.

(I see you got the elusive rev. C1 DDR3 card.)

BTW, here is a short tutorial for fixing black screen errors:
    1. Save your VBIOS.
    2. Open the saved VBIOS using NiBiTor.
    3. Go to Tools -> Perf table entries -> Show entries.
    4. In the 2nd row of the first entry, search for a byte with the value "01", for which the corresponding byte in all other entries is "10". Change this byte to "10" as well.

This might need a little illustration, so here it is:
    nibitor.png

    5. Click "Apply", then "Abort" (this is a bug in NiBiTor - clicking Apply doesn't close the window, Abort does).
    6. Save the modified VBIOS.
    7. Flash and enjoy.

Hello friends :). My GPU heats up in games to 89 C°. In a computer idle time, its temperature of 50-60 C°. CPU T7500 . This normal???

If it's a rev. A1 9600M GT, then 89°C is normal. If it's rev. C1, then you likely have a cooling problem.

ok now You talking ;) so is it? whatever that i have 96ddr2?? I think i can do the same way as (Chris)as You did it here...? Before i did some modifications in -> Perf table entries -> i`ve copy "Perf table entries 4" and paste to "Perf table entries 2 and 3" for full performance but this is quite annoing becouse now i have full perf. in normal mode when i need lower performance. Is it possile to have Full.perf .clocks only in 3D mode - games, and medium performance clocks in idle- when i do office job or useing internet...?? also Nvidia System Tools 6.08 cant save manual clocks settings sometimes nvpanel stops working.

    Big thanks.

Please undo the perf table entry copying before applying the correct fix.

And yes, you will need the modded SBIOS to use all 4 power states. No, the modded SBIOS is not the reason why you are getting lockups / black screens, it's a driver bug that affects even some Acer 6935G machines that came with a 9600M GT out-of-the-box and have never been upgraded in any way. My fix is a workaround for this driver bug.
(I'm still gathering information about the bug before I report it to Nvidia, to see if it really occurs on "legitimate" 9600M GT systems as well.)

The older driver is not better - with the fixed VBIOS, always use the latest driver available.

On that picture, you do not "already have 10" - notice how the first 16 characters of the 1st entry (2nd row) are "00000 010000FF0B2", while the corresponding part in the 2nd entry is "00000 100001FF0A0". Make the first entry into "00000 100000FF0B2" (i.e. five zeros before and five zeros after the 1).

Again, you will get full clocks if you install the modded SBIOS.

hi. Unfortunetly is not working " i have already your modded SBIOS(maybe i have to reflash it after patch vcard? but this was the same before) and this "00000100000FF0B2" is not giving me full clocks i dont hnow what it`s giving anyway...?? I got full clocks only with copying 4 table entry to Throttle entry like i wrote before but i am unhappy by that becouse this lower battery life. But i thank u for trying all of that stuff... Maybe if u have some time u will find out or u can mod VBIOS i give u a link before and do it Yourself manually. Regards. ps( am i thinkig well that after flashing vbios always reinstall vcard drivers.??)

Hi guys, pls tell me what have you done to get pci-e at x16 and this clocks speeds. This is my gpu-z report:

    http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/12/11/17/hm8.png

The Vbios has been flashed and modded with netrolller method yesterday. I have no problems with its functionality but with some games, the performance is ridiculous, even lower than 8600m.

    My Gpu id:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_056710DE&REV_A1
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_056710DE
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&CC_0300

Btw, netroller i cant download the file you uploded to filecloud. Could you upload again? xD. Thanks in advance guys

PS: i have done what netroller said about modded vbios but still with pci-e at x1. Would be nice if u could reupload the modded sbios to get pci-e at x16 and full clocks :). I have this gpu since May and still with this issue. I have no more ideas. Very very good job netrolller, thank soooo much :)

    PS2: i have a 7720g btw

Hi guys. Because I am new here, please excuse me if I am writing in the wrong section of the forum. I have an Acer Aspire 5720G-3A2G25Mi. I want to upgrade it. The factory specs are:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache
Socket: PPGA478 Spec Code: SLAEB (CPU-Z says: Socket P 478)
    GPU: NVidia 8400M GS
    RAM: 2 x 1 GB SO-DIMM DDR2
CHIPSET: Intel PM965 Express Chipset (I am not really sure, CPU-Z says so)
    HDD: 250 GB
    BIOS: ACER V. 1.45 (from ACER-Europe)

For the GPU I have read here in the forum that MXM II is the right type for me, so I have to choose between NVidia GeForce 9600M GT 512 DDR3 or GT 240M 1GB DDR3. I found the GT 240M for about 200 usd. Yes or No? Is there a new BIOS version or the 1.45 from Acer is ok for all the improvements? RAM, I will purchase 2 x 2GB 667 MHZ (TRANSCEND JM667QSU-2G 2GB SO-DIMM DDR2 PC2-5300 667MHZ or CORSAIR VS2GSDS667D2 2GB SO-DIMM DDR2 VALUE SELECT PC2-5300 or KINGSTON KVR667D2S5/2G SO-DIMM DDR2 2GB 667MHZ). Can it be 800 MHz or the PM965 support only 667 MHz? I want to replace the hard drive with a SSD. I have found OCZ Vertex-2 60GB. I do not know which CPU to search. In Intel’s site, says that PM965 is compatible with: C2D T8300/8100/9300/9500 & C2Extreme X7800/7900/9000. How about the T7250/7300/7500/7700/7800? Isn’t these compatible? What is your opinion about the CPU? I found on eBay the T8300. For its price (used aprx. 54 usd) I can tell that is better from the T9500 (new 158 usd). I have one more question. Which is the difference between socket PGA478 and PPGA478? The T5450 that I have now is PPGA478 but the T8300 is PGA478, according to Intel’s site. Finally I want your opinion about the ES or QS. I have found some CPUs that next to the model say ES.

    Hi Everyone!

I have a problem with my 9600m GT C1 in my 5720. Previously, .NetRolller 3D helped me to mod the VBIOS to get it fully work on my machine, but there is still problem, which I've just discovered.

The VGA,DVI,and the S-video out doesn't work. I'd like to get work at least the VGA and/or the DVI port. Can anyone help me with this?
And a 'one more thing': Is there any way, to get audio through the DVI port, like the HDMI? I have read about 9600m-s and HDMI audio working, so it should work as well through DVI.

    Thanks the help in advance.!
