Trying to save my laptop. When I push the power button, the power light comes on and as soon as I feel the hardrive come on,it shuts down. I've tried starting it on battery power only, battery and charger, and tried removing the battery and starting on the charger only. The same thing happens every time. I recently replaced the charger due to the old one having a breaking inside the cord. What should I do next?

Try starting it with the HDD removed and tell us what happens. If it gets to the BIOS without it connected, you'd have a dead HDD on your hands. Also it could be signs of a dead GPU or faulty RAM.

Hmm.. so it isn't the HDD then.

Have you tried removing the RAM and replacing it? I'm pretty sure your model uses DDR3 SODIMM which is the standard for laptops today. If you have a laptop that was manufactured 2010 present lying around, it's likely that it would have the same RAM. If so, switch it and see what happens. If this doesn't work, we can then safely assume that the GPU is dead.

Pulled the hard drive and tried to power on. = On then off

Pulled both memory cards and tried to power on. = On then off

Reinstalled each memory card in each slot one at a time, powering on each time. = On then off

Reinstalled everything and powered on. = Boot and loaded Windows 7 as normal.I will run memory diagnostics test upon shut down.I need to back up my HD.

I think it is a memory problem.

So it's partially working now? I get the feeling the GPU is dying or the RAM is faulty.

It seems to be running fine now.No slowing down like a bad memory card.

Did you figure out what the problem was? As you suggested, you should backup your HDD just incase anything bad happens.
