    Hi there :hi2:
I think this is the best place to put my problem. I have a aspire 5742zg and I want to change the thermal paste on CPU and GPU, but before I disassemble, I need to know what's between heatsink and GPU, if there is a thermal pad or thermal paste. Anyone changed a similar laptop?

    Thanks

That would be thermal paste although thermal pads may be placed between VRAM and a heatsink.
These are the sort of pads that don't get damaged in the process of removing the radiator so don't worry about them.

Are you sure about that? I saw laptops videos and photos with thermal pads between gpu and heatsink, that's why I'm asking this :\

I'm not 100% sure because I haven't been able to find any photographs or videos that would confirm there is or isn't a thermal pad there.
I can clearly see thermal pads for VRAM but not for the GPU itself.

Also 5742G and ZG use a GPU that is too powerful and therefore too hot for a thermal pad to be used responsibly.
