    Hey all,

I just purchased a 5750G here in Japan because my old laptop died suddenly and I needed a replacement.

I bought this one kind of on a whim, without doing any research because I had no way to do so and was stressing without computer access. This machine seemed to give the most bang for its buck in a 15" form factor with the quad core sandy bridge and Geforce 540m.

If anyone wants an in depth review, let me know and I will make one.
I did a search for 5750G and didn't see a post so I'm offering for any curious would be buyers.

Idle CPU temps: 47, 47, 45, 45C using hardware monitor. Fan is barely on and not audible over ambient and hard drive noise. Chassis is completely cool, if there were no lights on you could barely tell it was on by feeling the case temperature!

Idle GPU temps: I can't seem to get a reading for the integrated GPU (I guess now that the GPU is on the CPU die the CPU readings are the same thing) so I turned on Portal 2 for just a few seconds to activate the Nvidia GPU. Temps were 43C. Cool as a bean.

    Idle HDD temps: 36C.

CPU load: using Prime95 to put the CPU under 100% load for 30 minutes gives me 83, 86, 82, 83C. Temps rise drastically after load is applied and rests at this point, the temps do not appear to be rising or falling except for a degree or two variance. When load is taken off the temps drop to the 60's almost instantaneously and make their way back to idle temps from there.

Heat is increased drastically. Heat output from the exhaust is very warm and steady, fan is noticeably louder but sound levels are acceptable considering the load level. Heat makes it way through the chassis centered around the bottom middle of the case near the touchpad. The areas around the touchpad are warm to the touch with the right side of the computer completely cool. The warmth is very noticeable but not uncomfortable yet. I could see it being annoying in the summertime.

That's all for now, tomorrow I will do GPU load and CPU/GPU load, cool?

Just a warning to other, make sure that you order the right one... I got my 5750 with i7 2630qm. But there was one major problem, there was no Nvidia 540M!
I bought it at amazon.co.uk and it was same price as with Nvidia 540M on other webshops, so i did not read the speccs enough, since I thought it was the same machine as other shops.

Good thing we got an 7 days EU return policy, so its on its way back allready :)

Is there a reliable way to undervolt the new Core series of CPUs? I was able to drop about 20 degrees Celcius on an old Core 2 Duo laptop and I think this monster quad core CPU could benefit from a little less juice. Though this my first experience with Core i7 so I don't know how well they under volt. From what I understand, RMclock does not support the new Core line.

I got my 5750G now, and i have upgraded to crucial M4 126GB system disk and i have the old 500GB in a harddrive caddy for the "dvd-drive-slot".
    I love it :)

Only problem was that the SSD did not fit the harddrive mounting thingy, but i have just put in some foam behind the disc so it sit secure in the bay.
Maybe i should just move the SSD to the dvd-drive-slot, but i think i am to lazy :)

    I don't have the 5750G but I have the 4741G, so I thought I might chimed in a bit.

It doesn't matter how well you take of these two laptops (or any Acer with glossy screen bezels), the glossy bezel will definitely get scratched over time once you remove the protective film.

Glossy surfaces really needs to DIE now.

I get SATA III speeds no doubt about that.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sol...ron-c400-ssd-series-thread-9.html#post7534357

There is a test of the SSD in my acer 5750G.

I must also agree with strangerguy, glossy is baaad. But hey this is a dirt cheap acer laptop, so i am okay with it for the price. The screen used on the acer is also a cheap LCD, and its not very good. But aging you get what you pay for.

Just bought a 5750G-9463 and was thinking about changing out the keyboard to a backlit keyboard by loosely following this post.
Acer TimelineX 3820TG Backlit keyboard mod

Just trying to find a compatible keyboard, found one on ebay that I think would do the trick.
    Aspire 5810TZG US backlit Keyboard

Can anyone give me a thumbs up or down, or suggest a keyboard that would work.

    Thanks.
