    Good day everyone,
I've recently bought this Aspire 5750g laptop shipped with 8GB of RAM. The performance is great but i need more amount of memory because i do a lot of networking with up to 5~7 VMs powered on simultaneously.
So i'm planning to upgrade to 16GB (using 2x8GB modules), BUT here is the issue: according to Intel, my i7-2630QM processor is capable to handle up to 16GB of RAM, but according to Acer, the Aspire 5750g model supports only 8GB max of memory, i'm not sure is it the Intel HM65 chipset or the BIOS* or something else is causing this limit
i'm not even sure if there is a limit since i saw few people having the same laptop model were capable to run the whole 16gb, but i want to make sure before buying something that i'm not capable to run (i certainly don't want to end up with BSODs in every boot)
anyone has upgraded to more then 8gb with this laptop? should i proceed with the upgrade? any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance :)

*i've already updated the BIOS to the latest version available (v1.21)

I had 16GB on my 5750G. I don't see why yours wouldn't work with it.

finally someone actually have try it  , how does it perform? do your BIOS and OS report the whole 16gb of ram correctly? did you have any BSODs or any performance degradation? i haven't upgraded the memory yet, could you tell me the exact model and type of the ram's modules you're using now, so maybe i'll find them on ebay and buy them,
    many thanks

I'm sorry, I no longer have the laptop. I was using generic Kingmax Valueram. Had an unlocked bios I found on some mac forum, unlocked by a russian I think. He had very bad english pronounciation but the bios worked perfect.
The ram was working just fine, any bsods I had were due to the cooling system being utter sheise, both cpu and gpu always overheated. I traded that notebook for the one I'm using now and never looked back. (upgrades cost me a ton though :D)

I appreciate the information :) after some research i've found that i need a DDR3 PC3-10600 1333mhz ram, which is available at Amazon.
About the BIOS, i already updated to the latest version (v1.21) from Acer download site, but from what you said, i assume it wont detect all the 16GB of RAM unless i flashed an unlocked BIOS, am i right?
