Hey,
First Post, I have also searched for posts witht he same problem but with no luck.
I have an Acer Aspire 5810T and its wont power on. I smelt burning the last time I turned it on so then I turned it off and ever since it wont turn on.
When connecting the battery etc it is charging as light on the front of the laptop comes on and changes from red to blue when fully charged, but its like the power button is burnt out or the wires connecting that to the computer have burnt out, is there a way I can bypass the power button to start the laptop?
I used unexperienced instructions to open the laptop to change the keyboard but never touched anything inside (I now know I shouldn't of done this and feel silly for it). Can anyone help me in advising if or how I can turn the laptop on any other way apart from pressing the power button?
Thanks for your advice,

Power button itself can be replaced on all units but it's unlikely to be a problem.
The burning had nothing to do with the power button since it happened when the notebook was on. -
Sorry i should of said, The burning smell was when i turned the laptop on, and because i smelt the burning i turned it off immediately and since then it has not turned on.

It's not the power button though- something else on the mobo burned.
If it was a power button you'd be very happy but it's more likely that the whole motherboard will have to be replaced.
You may start with dismantling the notebook to look for parts that look or smell burned. If you are not able to locate it on your own service center is the way to go.
Aspire 5810T not turning on, but still charging.
