hi, i have a brand new aspire 5920 notebook. The round power button LED always used to glow Blue. A week back, the power button started glowing Amber. It stays amber irrespective of whether it's running on AC or battery power. The power indicator at the bottom right stays on even after i shutdown the notebook thus draining out the battery. Any suggestions on how to get it fixed?

Hmm you most likely have a broken power jack.
Plug in your power cord and try to jiggle it to see if the power jack's loose.
If so then you'll need to get it res-soldered.

Are you sure that you are actually shutting the laptop down? Mines only flashes amber if it gos into hibernate.

    Its just a thought...

or it could be going in to stand-by, that would drain the battery.

check your power settings in control panel.

    just another thought

I think it's windows power setting problem. try to reset it first.

hi guys.. thanks for your suggestions.

i am definitely shutting down the notebook.. not putting it in standby.

i do not see an option to reset the windows power scheme. what's the ideal power scheme for a notebook? thanks.

Best setting is your own power plan :)

There is 3 main power plans. Select any one of that and & click change plan settings after that select restore defult setting for this plan
