- intel core 2 duo processor T7300 (2 Ghz , 800 MHz FSB , 4 Mb L2cache)
- Up to 358Mb Mobile Intel Graphic Media Accelorator X3100

Now im not going to pretend i know what some of that means but this is not what confuses me... Now as far as i can see these are pretty good specs but after i Downloaded CS:S it played at 1.28 FPS ! ! ! ! 1.28 have u got any idea how long the test took !!! LOL
Battlefield didnt work, but hey i was not sure it would.

o yh and sorry for Doubl post but what is empowering technology?
has anyone had experience with it?
or is it just standard acer, o yes and on a side note CS:S also took an AGE to load up and i mean a LONG LONG time -
Erm, 5920s can come with the 8600M, not the 8800M though. The X3100 is an integrated graphics card, compared to the 8600M which is a discrete graphic card. Simply, it's not a fantastic card for gaming. That said, the X3100 shouldn't be running that badly with CS:S.
What settings were you running it at? It's possible that you had it on settings that were too high.

I also have a 5920. It's a 5920-6470. Acer makes numerous variants of the 5920. The "G" models have a discrete video card instead of onboard Intel video like yours and mine. The "G" models will handle modern games better than the ones with onboard video.
If you bought the laptop for gaming you picked the wrong one.
The Acer Empowerment fluffware is thoroughly despised by some. Others put up with it, some even like it. It's a layer of software that runs on top of vista. Supposed to make certain tasks easier, but that's arguable and it definitely adds more work to the CPU.
You can turn it off in Start-up if you like. That way it's still accessible by clicking on the vista "Start" globe (lower left corner) but doesn't start automatically when you fire up the laptop.
I turned off Aero and told vista to run in basic mode. That freed up some resources. Can't say I miss it.
