I also purchased the 5920 from Wal-Mart about 6 months ago. About 2 months ago my 160Gig HDD just failed on me and I had to send it to Texas to have it repaired. What I need to know is this: I just bought Assasin's Creed and my not-so brand new lappy wont play it. It loads through the intro and then fails. I realize that my CPU is 1.66Ghz and the requirements for the game is 1.9 or better. Still, I thought I might get lucky. Stupid me. So, I've been reading these forums and upgrading my CPU from my T5450( 1.6)to the T8300 (2.4). Now I also have 3GB DDR2 Ram installed and want to move to 4, so do I need to buy new ram that runs at 800mhz to reflect the changes I've made to my cpu? Or should I just take out a 1GB ram and put in a 2GB of the same kind already in it? It's the Samsung DDR SDRam 1x1 and 1x2. Any info would be helpful. Thanks![]()

first, could you please download PCWizard, and tell us the following:
RAM amount, just to make sure
RAM speed
CPU FSB (front side bus)
CPU Speed
Motherboard Chipset ---example: intel pm45, intel i945
Graphics card -
I really hope you have a good dedicated GPU(Nvidia/ATi) and not the Intel IGP because if you have the Intel, with all this upgrade you stills won't be able to run Assassins's Creed.
You upgraded to T8300 that's good, this is a 45nm Penryn which will set you FSB at 800Mhz. Your RAM is most likely at 667Mhz which is the max speed you can get. You can upgrade the RAM like you said - remove the 1GB stick and put a 2GB stick in its place. Caution: If you're not running 64bit OS this RAM upgrade is pointless because Windows x32 and Vista x32 can 'see' 3.2GB RAM max. -
ok the ram is:
3072 MB DDR-2 SDRAM PC-2 5300 (333Mhz) {DDR2-666}
FSB Speed 166.7
Frequency 666.8
Chipset Intel GM965
Video card 965 Express
Up to 358MB Mobile Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100
Is this a good video card in comparison to the nVidia? -
for real? and i can't upgrade my video card can I?

Ok what exactly is your video card? Intel X3100? X4500?
-

Check this review:
Intel GMA X3100 Graphics Performance Review
I have the same and I play old games:
Serious Sam First/Second Encounter, Serious Sam 2(low quality)
Half life 2 + Ep1 & 2
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2
GTA San Andreas (low quality)
etc..you get the point.
The conclusion is: x3100 is not a gaming card. Especially for games made after 2005..and it cannot be upgraded. So if you want to play new games you'll have to buy new laptop with dedicated GPU. For Assassin's Creed you'll need a good GPU like... 8600GT for good gaming experience. Of course I cannot be sure, never owned a laptop with dedicated GPU. If you want check the GAMING section of NBR and if you plan to buy new laptop check the What Laptop Should I Buy section. -

well, the x3100 is just plain weak. you would be surprised how much my 9700 would kick its butt. and your RAM speed is quite slow as well as the bandwidth. Your processor seems good as you said, but when it comes to gaming, you really need 2 things: a good cpu and a good gpu. Its always better to have the better GPU, but the CPU still has to be in the same category. I mean, you wouldnt buy a 9800m gtx and have a 2.0ghz CPU. it doesnt match up too well. but selling it would be something that might be worth it. id buy an external hard drive, a 500gb 7200 rpm one for $100 on newegg would be good, and copy your whole hd. then, erase it with a format and sell it. just my opinion.
