My laptop tends to run quite hot when playing games.

    I have oc'ed it to:

    core: 590 MHZ
    shaders: 1180 MHZ
    mem: 465 MHZ
    driver: 174.12
    riva: 2.06

during gaming I get (in some games) 90°C and idle I get around 50°C.

Uh hmmm. Are you asking a question or simply stating what is happening with your overclocked lappie  ??

BTW, as you should know, overclocking always raises temps as you are pushing the machine beyond it's design limits. Still

    Duh

this temp. are ok. My 5920 without overlocking has only slighty smaler temperatures. I think 90 degrees is perfectly safe. If you don't get any artifacts you don't have to worry about.

    No artifacts here.

Could upgrading my bios to a newer version bring any help? (I'm using the standard version) because cooler is better.

Where did you find a newer BIOS version for the 5920G? I can't even find my notebook on the Internet, nor get the system to recognise my serial number.

Will the files from the Acer ftp site work with a US 5920G?

I would consider replacing the stock thermal paste for your GPU and CPU. a good one to use would be Arctic Coolings MX-2 non-conductive thermal paste. the non-conductive refers to electrical conductivity, unlike the silver based one's, which are. many people have found to have drops of up to 10°C after a new application!

I've just recently ordered some to use myself, so I'm looking forward to better thermal management in my 5920G :D

Or just buy a decent cooling pad. Very effective and will prolong the life of your lappie as it cools the MB, HDD and RAM etc. as well. And you don't have to dismantle your laptop.

Zalman make an excellent cooler which pulls air from the bottom of your lappie and forces it out through the top which works very well with Acers cooling design. I don't have the link here - just Google Zalman and check what they have on offer.

    Cheers,
    Theo
