    Hi guys!

Just recently repair this notebook for a friend, he had a death 8600M GT board and after swaping it with another unit i noticed he suffers from creen flicker/little shake.. its not the vga board (connected to tv unit with hdmi and everything was fine..) the image itself is fine on screen but the brigthness flickers (like old crt monitors with low refresh numbers) tried moving/reconnecting lcd cable and nothing at all..

Anyone know what causes this weird flicker? its causes almost headache..

Try to ask help here and here. People there are familiar with upgrading that laptop with 8600GT.

I would suggest you to install modified drivers for 8600GT. Maybe there is a need on flashing 8600GT with custom BIOS.

    Well, I suggest you don't ;)

Cross posting is a bad idea. Now that you've started thread on this issue, let's keep it all in here.

Hmmm,if on the BIOS screen it lags too, than the screen cable may be damaged also. In addition, it can be bad GPU chip or, again, bad soldering.

Maybe it's LCD back-light itself or more specifically an inverter failing?

I have owned a 5920 since 2008 and tried every anti-screen flicker fix found on google and youtube and changed lcd cable.
Remove powerboard cover and disconnect lcd cable...... blow hard / clean with fingers (usual techy stuff). Reconnect lcd cable
and voila... the flicker has gone.
After a week or so, (sometimes sooner), the flicker returns. If I press down on the lcd cable carefully with my penknife, the flicker stops.
    View attachment 112308 .
Ultimately I have to go back to removing cable again when fed up with flickering.
Think it may be some kind of static build up but not sure.

Re guys! im thinking it must be inverter or lcd cable for sure.. ill try the one cheaper first..

Scooter i saw lots of guides moving and pushing lcd cable with success but i try to move it,push it,etc and nothing works :(
