I have bluetooth enabled on my new laptop but it dont work. I have reinstalled all the software for it but nothing seems to want to connect.
I have questions marks under system in control panel for bluetooth services, bluetooth peripheral device not loaded correctly. I have about 6 of them in my system folder. How do i get this driver to load. Is it a driver for the bluetooth for the acer or for the mobile phone?
Where do i get it from, coz its not on the cd that came with my phone (N95 8gb) and its not loaded on the lappy coz the machine cant find it, I cant get it from windows update, so where is it?
Anyone know?????![]()

Does anyone have any idea on how to get this bluetooth connected, please, I really need help with it.........
-
does the BLUE TOOTH show up correctly in the DEVICE MANAGER of windows?
or does it have a yellow ! mark on it?? if so UNINSTALL IT from the device manager,,, then reboot... maybe that will reinstall the hardware and drivers correctly -
There is nothing in device manager with bluetooth switched off. when i switch it on, device manager then shows 'bluetooth peripheral device' with exclamation marks 5 times and then vista wants to load the driver, but there are no drivers. The ones ive downloaded dont work and the machine cant see and there is nothing on any disc i have.......for windows or for my mobile.
Im well confused!! -
well try DELETING or UNINSTALLING the 5 devices w/ problems....
and go to the ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS section of the control pannel
and remove anything about BLUE TOOTH
YOU MUST GET BLUE TOOTH WORKING before you even think about the PHONE or the disk that came w/ it.... so forget all about the PHONE or it's DISK
first you have to get rid of all those non-working devices that are there due to trying to install drivers and software multiple times
when you have all refrences to BLUE TOOTH totally GONE,,, then maybe we can help you... but just keeping on installing software and drivers over and over again will never work,,, it only screws things up worse -
Ok everything is deleted, everything in device manager and the wicomm in uninstall programs, thats it, just need to get the latest drivers from somewhere which i thought i already had, lets start a fresh......)
-
Ok off to bed, speakie tomorrow hopefully,,,,nice pic by the way, yummy lol...
-
thanks for the comment on my girl.. i love drew
i'll see if i can't track down the NEWEST ACER DRIVERS i have a link to an internal ACER site... it may have newer drivers than the support.acer-euro.com
i'll check and see -
I have found 6.0.1.4900, going to give them a go but appreciate your help. Let me know if you find anything more up to date, Cheers......
-
no it wont work, i have deleted everything, the widcomm, everything out of device manager etc etc and bluetooth software.
rebooted.
Then i load 6.0.1.4900 which it does and then says that it wants to load the driver, insert the disc that came with your bluetooth peripheral, this is where it all goes pear shaped.......It then loads tries to load them so many times but each time says it cant find them. It checks windows update, finds nothing then asks me to find them and Ive tried everything and everywhere but not happening.
Any ideas what vista is looking for here? -
that is the NEWEST DRIVER for VISTA 32 &64 bit!!!
install that... then check the device manager... to see if you have any YELLOW ! marks....
do that before installing anything else.
you will probably have to REBOOT... after the RESTART PRESS THE BLUETOOTH BUTTON at the TOP (or is it on the SIDE) of the keyboard... the light should lightup and you might see an ON-SCREEN DISPLAY saying something like BLUE TOOTH ENABLED
if that works.. BLUE TOOTH ON THE PC IS WORKING...
then install the software that came w/ your phone (follow thier directions)
you should need no DRIVER from that disk nor should you need any driver for your phone if you are using BLUETOOTH to connect...
you simply make sure your phone is in DISCOVERY MODE when the SOFTWARE from the phone manufacturer informs you to make sure BLUETOOTH feature of the phone is turned on.. -
next time when it tries to install these devices choose CANCLE or NO DON'T SEARCH FOR DRIVERS
unzip the drivers you downloaded and place them in a FOLDER on the DESKTOP or somewhere easy to find!
now go to device manager,, highlight the UNKNOWN DEVICE or what ever the BLUETOOTH shows up as now... rightclick on it and choose PROPERTIES...
choose UPDATE DRIVER,, choose NO NOT THIS TIME,, choose INSTALL FROM A LIST OR SPECIFICIED LOCATION,, choose DONT SEARCH I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER TO INSTALL,,, click HAVE DISK (at bottom right of open window),,, click BROWSE and then navigate to the folder where you unzipped the DOWNLOADED FILES..... CLICK OK
if that doesn't work i'll be back in 3 hrs... and i have older drivers that are not from acer but support the WIDCOMM... -
HI ya, well i managed to get it working while you were away. I downloaded the same driver from the site but the version for sp1 i guess it must be different slightly.
I have managed to get a connection between my phones and the computer without loading any drivers for the phones. So thats a great start tp the evening.....
when it was loading the new software it showed me about 20 yellow exclamation marks in device drivers but after it had finished it left me with 5 only and they are still there.
2 i think must be for my phones as thats where windows wants to take me to go find them, 1 is for 'broadcom' and the other 2 it doesnt know what they are........
Going to try what you said now but i dont think im going to find anything for these last five, i will just have to tell the machine not to look for them when it reboots. A little annoying having 5 yellows stuck in your device manager though......
Speak later, thx for your help chappie.......... -
Found 6.0.1.6200 on the broadcom website, loading that straight over the top.....
-
Done everything and its let me with the three exclamation marks for bluetooth peripheral device thats it.
Apart from that it works and dont keep asking for them now but would like to get rid of them but its not really an issue,
thanks......... -
Oh a second question, you dont know where you can buy the remote control that can be housed in the pcmcia slot do you? Just a quick question as no-one has ever responded to it in an other forum.
-
no but if you find the BLUE TOOTH REMOTE PM ME DETAILS
my drivers may fix the 5 yellow symbols.... it's worth a try since you can now roll back to previous version
back in an hour -
Sorted everything, the peripheral devices were for the second mobile i got, for the modem and for the remote control etc. I just deleted everything and when i got the machine to discover the phone i just told it not to install those devices and it did as it was asked, makes a change lol.
Thanks for all your help really appreciate it. I will look for the remote now and let you know if i find anything, would be kool to have one dont you think?
Thankie largely.......... -
Im pretty sure there is a remote and it looks very much like this one.
http://www.amazon.com/EL623AA-Mobil...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1203054249&sr=1-2 -
i've seen those remotes.... if they work with ACERs i'd like to have one myself....
then i would turn my $500 laptop into a MEDIA SERVER
i already have a 1TB NAS hadrive all i need is an OS that the NAS recognizes as a VAILD and LEGITIMATE MEDIA CENTER EDITION -
That would be cool.
The only problem is, i sthat I have NO IDEA whether they work with the acer machines or not. If you look at the Amazon site it says compatibility for the HP but I guess it would.
I cant really see how they wouldnt work can you? I guess drivers could be an issue but then that could be down to the IR port on the machine.
Saying that, how do you switch that on?
Oh and by the way, thx again for the bios thingy in the other thread, Im quite new to vista.... -
if i find any info on this being a possibility, i'll let you know
try looking up the part at DELL and see it it;s a bluetooth device... and then download any software you can find for it... -
