Well, hey guys. You might remember about november, I made a post about the aspire 5920g overheating. And thinking it could be due to the GPU (8600m GS) overheating. I was wrong. Turns out the loud fan noise (whirring) coming from the computer was my T7300 Processor going over the safe barrier for it's temperature, to stop it frying. Thus causing the laptop to completely turn off.

So, by using RMClock, i have successfully got a good undervolt on the processor, and now the laptop seems to be fine in games. The fan doesn't even have to kick in anymore!

And, if ever it breaks again, i've always got a spare laptop waiting :p

Can't believe it was the T7300 though, thought it was the GPU, obviously wrong :p

And, it plays FEAR 3, and Duke Nukem Forever. So all is good.

My 8600 gs is also on clocks of 519 core clock/1038 shader and 454 memory clock. Is this good from the original 450 setup? Could i go more? Cheers guys!

Doesn't surprise me, I had a 5920 a couple of years ago with a T7500 in and that ran very hot at times. I didn't game on it, but imagine that if I did, I would have had the same issues.

Did you give the vents a clean, and re-apply thermal paste, this might lower temps a bit more, if not already done so.

Have cleaned the vents. May buy some thermal paste for the card as well. Managed to get a really good clock now on the card as well. Definitely plays games more smooth than usual now. Clocks are at 618 Core Clock, 1236 Shader Clock and a 504 Memory Clock. For the GS, i say a really good overclock from the original 450 core clock.
