    Hello everyone,

I´m searching for a newer Firmware as 1.B4 for my Blu-Ray Optiarc 5500A.

    Who can help me?

    Thank you!

    Greetings

Firmware on notebooks is always branded so you'd have to find one meant for Acer which is impossible since they never release firmware updates or risk flashing firmware meant for a different brand or a non-branded firmware.

There is a high risk of bricking your drive while doing so- it's a last resort.

Firmware for 5500A (not meant for Acer!)
The rpc1.org files database Optiarc BD-5500A/BC-5500S

That won't happen. Acer has never released an official firmware update.
You can try to contact them but don't expect miracles.

I doubt they even have firmware updates- is seems they get more recent firmware versions with the drives but not as stand-alone installers.

One of our users contacted Acer about that and they replaced his BR drive with new one because they simply didn't have an firmware update for him.

On the 5720G, I've never encountered firmware incompatibilities. The 5920G is a different beast electrically, however.
