    Hey Everyone,

I've been having trouble with keeping the laptop charged. It seems where I plug the power cord into the laptop is broken. It gets really hot and if not put in a certain position wont even charge the battery or sometimes even run. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and was been able to fix it. Or if anyone can help me figure out the exact part i need to buy and from where. Thanks in advance, I've been having this problem for a long time and its annoying when you don't notice the plug fall out and laptop dies.

What is broken- the power socket on the laptop or the cable?
The latter happens more often. Can you verify it with another PSU- 6920G uses very common PSU (19V, 4.64A) so you may know someone who has this PSU.

That doesn't mean it's the socket. The part of the cable between the what you plug into the laptop and the power surge "bulge" gets a lot of punishment as it's being constantly flexed one way or the other.
If you move it slightly it can contact but you won't be able to tell for sure if it’s this part of the cable or a socket that's just an inch away. That's why I'd recommend you test another PSU first to eliminate this as a variable (or possibly a problem altogether)

Update! I brought my PSU into the store and he tested it, nothing wrong with it. Wasn't able to bring my laptop in at the time, since i went after work and its -35 out and no where to store it. So it very well looks like the socket at this point. I'm told it's not a hard part to change but I'm curious as to if i could do this myself. Not looking at my laptop, the tech said it would cost around 100$ or more. Has anyone ever replaced this part or knows where i could order the proper part.

Last user that needed this part found it at ebay with ease- it was cheap too.
$100 for soldiering is kind of expensive, don't you think?
You provide them with mobo and the part needed and all they do is 5 min of soldiering.

He said it wasn't even soldered on which is why I've thought about trying it myself. Worst case scenario my friend who replaced my screen can do it for me. I'm just not sure which part i need. Some websites I've been to ask for a part number and Acer website doesn't list it. Don't want to buy the wrong part

You are right- no soldiering required.
Part number is 50.APD0N.001- take a look here
There's also a second part number listed 50.APQ0N.011 but it seems to be 65W.
