okay let me just say i am not at all compiuter illiterate ive spent the last few years of my life attatched to a computer at almost all times and im an enthusiastic computer geek

I bought this laptop to ease my sense of dispair when im away from my pc - however it seems to crash about once a month and then stop working for a while... like a week and eventually it just recovers completely for another month?? im guessing it has something to do with built up static or something? im not big on laptops.. a lot of the time it seems fine but then when i open up WoW it crashes up again

also if i have it closed while listening to music or something it constantly makes this "dudu" noise as though theres some important notification but nothing on screen and it makes it like every 15 seconds but just randomly...
if anyone can help me with these two problems ill be happy, thanks.

Maybe you have a defective unit? My Acer never has serious problems on stock config. Only til I deliberately pushed it to find the min undervolt, did I see it crash. Sounds like you might have hardware issues. Try running diagnostic tests on each part (ie. stress tests for CPU, GPU, memory, hard drive, etc.)

try running without the battry in place.
thats if you use power cable 99% of the time.
make sure laptop is off and power supply is not in/on.

do you leave the laptop on all the time.do you just shut lid ?

    Mad69er,

I had that problem as well, I got it to stop by disabling sounds in the fingerprint software. The "dudu" sound is Vista's Error sound.

Thanks for your replies. i have now done a factory restore and its returned to default.... i then played zuma for a while about an hour and it crashed, i left it off for a while then restarted and downloaded and installed WoW then after about 10 mins of playing another crash.

sgogeta4 i dont see how running stress tests will help, its only a few month old and still has warrenty. i sent it into repair once but it was in its recovery phase and they sent it back labelled "no problem found". and they refuse to give my money back.

I've taken the battery out and ill update you on if it still crashes although to my memory it has made no difference in the past.

thanks damonk ill do that next time its bothering me

Sometimes tech support really sucks. If you have defective hardware, running stress tests will show which particular piece of hardware is the culprit.
