Hello! Im having a small gaming problem here. Im playing world of warcraft on my Aspire 6920g and it works perfectly smooth for like 5 minutes then starts performance decrease until its very bad. If I minimalize the game, for like, one minute and then maximize it back, it works perfectly smooth for some time again. I have no idea how to fix it. It probably isnt overheating as it occurs after I launch my lappy and then the game(the laptop is cold). Please any advices?

    Thanks in advance.

Mapman, this is a very common error or problem for Acer Aspire 6920G.
To fix this problem, it is not easy.
    Main cause:
The CPU's intelligent think that the processor is overheated(actually it do not) and it begins to throttle it(throttle mean slow down ur processor to reduce heat-up).
    Solution 1:
Download BIOS 1.10 for your Acer Aspire 6920G from http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/ftp/ftp.html
It is a rar file. Extract all the files to a folder. I guess the guide(how to patch your bios) is included in the rar file.

*Patching of BIOS is very dangerous.
*Back-up your stuffs before doing it.

Some people sucessfully fix the problem using this solution. However, some did not.

    Solution 2:

You have your Acer ePower Management with your right?
When your laptop is throttling due to false sense of overheat during gaming,
Alt-Tab to your desktop, click Acer ePower Management.
Reduce the your CPU speed(basically to lowest) and click Apply.
After that, increase your CPU speed(to maximum) and click Apply. Close the Acer ePower Management.
Your processor will not be throttle(throttle mean slowdown to reduce heat up) again. You can enjoy the game.
However, if you quit your games and turn on your game again, you need to do the same thing all over again. If not, it may slowdown again.

    Solution 3:

You need to download RightMark Clock (RMClock).
It is very hard to explain it all over again.
I will provide the useful link for you to read yourself.
So far, this is the BEST solution and workable for almost everyone.

Official download link and guide for RMClock, http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml#rmclock

Guide on "how to use RMClock to solve this annoying slowdown processor problem",

I am an user of Acer Aspire 6920G as well.
I use RMclock and it is very nice.
It wasn't just solve my problems and it lowers my laptop's processor temperature. All Hail RMCLOCK!

    Are you sure?
Go to your Empowering Technology by clicking the button located at the top-right corner.
Select Acer eSettings Management and a window will pop-up.
    Select the "Summary" tab.
Check the information it shown below.

    What country you're staying?
It seems that it was not english.
The link for the patch V1.10 BIOS I provided was from EURO.

    Solution:

If you dare to change it to v1.10, go ahead.
If you don't dare, better not.
Personally, I think you shouldn't change it. Once BIOS get wrong and your laptop would be dead. I won't hold any responsiblity.

    Use RMClock.

*Something LOL me out - I saw your Battery named Bateria. It's almost same like Bacteria. I was joking.

hi there i am also experiencing the same problem as mapman however im using a 64 bit version of vista and i cant run RMclock since it needs a digitally signed driver. im not to comfortable with flashing my BIOS since im kinda noobish with this sorta of stuff, but i cant get RM clock running. should i try flashing the BIOS or look for away to disable the driver problem

    Anyone mention Powermizer?

It is Nvidia's way of throttling the video card and they always keep it to the lowest clock speed, which is why you have experience decrease in performance.

Simply download Powermizer Switch off google and turn Powermizer off.

No more lagging during game or whatever.

It's not PowerMizer - the reason the GPU downclocks is because it's not being fed frames by the throttled CPU fast enough, and thus doesn't need maximum power.
We have been over and over and over this. Thanks for covering for me, DarkSilver.

    No problems. You are welcome.

I agreed with you. GPU(especially an overclocked 1 because more power is needed to run it perfectly) may downclock when the CPU voltage is low.
    I tried it on GRID.
    Experiment,
I put 0.925V for my CPU using rmclock. Then, I turn on GRID and test. The result is screen jumping and uneven framerates.
So, I increase the voltage to 1V and try again. It works better.
Then, I continue to raise the voltage. It works better and better.

Raising the voltage of a CPU doesn't increase its processing power. It will increase its stability and its heat output, though (that's why people undervolt - to draw less power from the battery).
And dropping the voltage too low will result in instability.

    Ohhhhh I see...
    That is called "Stability".
Yea, the game run smoother with higher voltage because of stable.
Moreever, I didn't notice any performance changes for other software and so on.
    I doubt you're RIGHT! Thz!

It could also be due to the fan kicking up faster because of the higher heat output.
I'll have to test things out myself - Team Fortress 2 is the most CPU-intensive game I have, so if it holds out longer before a throttle on standard voltage than undervolted, I might need to go back to stock.
