Hi,
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6935G with Intel C2D P8400 2.26GHz (1066MHz FSB) and 4GB DDR3 RAM. OS is Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Under the memory tab in CPU-Z, the DRAM Frequency shows as 399MHz. However, the maximum bandwith for the memory under the SPD tab shows as 533MHz. If I'm correct this means my RAM is running at 800MHz instead of 1066MHz.

I've read other threads mentioning this problem and a solution was a BIOS update to v1.10. My current BIOS is v1.05, which has been on my laptop since new.
I've never updated a BIOS before and therefore reluctant in case anything goes wrong. The laptop is running fine with Vista.
Any suggestions as to the best action to take would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

the fixes are in Bios 1.10

OK, could somebody who has done this update please clarify the correct process.
Once the v1.10 BIOS zip folder has been downloaded from the Acer website, where's the best place to extract the folder, the desktop?
In the readme.txt file, it says to click InsydeFlash.exe to update the BIOS.
It seems very simple but are there any other precautions I should take, like disabling the wireless connection and other programs etc. beforehand?
After clicking InsydeFlash.exe, is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks. -
I just extracted on the desktop and ran it. I had the same old bios as you too. Don't know if there are any precautions you should take but I had no problem.

OK, I've done it. I disabled my wireless LAN connection first then ran the file. The update went fine and the memory speed is now showing correctly.
RickyC,
When looking in eSettings Management (Empowering Technology), I noticed the serial number had changed to 1234567890123456789012. Did the same happen to you?
Thanks. -
I uninstalled all the programs when i got the laptop so i wouldn't know. I thought it was all junk but some of the programs are useful so i got them back just recently.
-
Has anybody else had their serial number change to 1234567890123456789012 after the BIOS update?

Thanks. -
Hi, as the S/N is coded into each laptops bios flashing will indeed change it, as it has with my 8930, flashed bios, but not to my 5920, original bios...
