    Hi all,

I recently bought a an acer aspire 6935g laptop from ebay.
When I received the laptop it had been restored to factory defaults, but the bluray drive was not plugged in.
The laptop works fine, except for one problem.
When i plug in the bluray drive, the laptop wont turn on. If i plug the drive in when the laptop is already on, the power immediately cuts out.
The bluray drive is not listed in device manager.

I dont know much about computers, but i'm assuming there are two possible reasons - one that the bluray drive is dodgy and the laptop powers off for safety. and two that because the drive is not listed in device manager, the laptop doesn't like it?

The other thing is, i cant remember if i tried to plug in the bluray drive before or after i deleted a load of junk programs from the laptop. could i have uninstalled a program i needed for it?

the guy i bought it from said it worked fine - not sure if i believe him.

Do you lot have any suggestions of thing i should try?

Th laptop doesn't power itself off for safety- it's most likely a short circuit somewhere in the Bluray drive or the connector is damaged.
Use another notebook optical drive to test this but don't use this one anymore- you may cause damage.
