Just got my 7520 back from repair, (fault was it plays in B/W on a external monitor) acer said they replaced the mainboard cos they found it to be faulty.
now i have it back and it still plays in B/W can the 7520 play through the 7-pin mini din or is my machine still faulty.
    thanx

are you talking about the s-video socket (is it yellow) ?

that's for connecting to a tv.
    VGA is for a monitor.

ok i found my monitor (old crt) has an s-video seven pin din
after setting my monitor to s-video it was in color but i had to use the intel graphics media panel. and set that to CRT as in lcd mode it was in B/W.

seems like its a hardware issue, the 7-pin mini/din plays in black and white and so does the vga connection only the 4-pin s-video plays in colour but the pic is all blurred :(, i wish this had the intel graphics, its got the gforce 7000m instead, even windows says there is a driver conflict with the graphics card.
now the question, do you think putting XP in would be better?
i can get most of the drivers for it.
    thanx

Pete had an idea, could you PM Mr.Pickels in the thread link below.

maybe he could help with the right driver for vista just by looking at the thread.
he may have the answer for you.

thanx for your help m8 but it seems like my laptop has just stopped working
altogether, 1st it came up as ( Sorry this is not an acer product ) says acer all over the place lol
seems like the new mainboard they put in conflicts with the recovery partition on the hard drive :(
and now the thing just wont turn on,
so i phoned acer up and they are gonna pick it up again but i've said to them i don't want it repaired i want it replaced cos it came back with more faults than when i sent it to them.

got it back today, acer put a new 100 gig hdd in my old one was a 80 :D
but the 7-pin mini/din still plays in B/W
they say its passed all there test but i noticed on the repair sheet they only tested the s-video which played fine anyway.
what to do what to do, do i ring them again or just keep it as is.
